Queens, New York native Desiree Frieson, created Mahogany Communications in March 2010 after finding her niche working with non-profits, small businesses, entrepreneurs and media personalities.
An up and coming force in the world of public relations and community activism, Frieson has seven years experience in the for-profit and non-profit realm. She has worked with fashion brands, community groups, theater producers, filmmakers, entertainers, online magazines, production companies and more.
Frieson started out as an assistant institutional development assistant, assistant marketing professional and PR apprentice. Over the years, she developed a passion for volunteerism, social networking, blogging, event planning, journalism and mentoring. Known in many circles as an avid blogger, social connector, anti-sex trafficking and community activist, Desiree continually finds outlets to expand her horizons, accomplishments and personal and professional brand.
In February 2010, Desiree Frieson was awarded the 1st Annual JWT Diffreneter Award during Black History Month celebrating New York City's finest black professionals creating social change in their community. She was awarded for her work with the Bloggers Soiree, a social initiative created to connect bloggers with lesser known charities and foundations to create a heightened level of media awareness and fundraising.
After her success with Bloggers Soiree, in March 2010, Frieson created MomPreneurs Against Human Trafficking, a social justice program for moms in business creating social change in their community using their powerful positions to influence and lead others to make a difference in the lives of victims of sex-trafficking and to raise awareness of human trafficking in the United States of America.
With many accomplishments under her belt, Frieson is a published writer and created her popular blog, "Desi's Random Thoughts," aka www.desireefrieson.com in September 2009. In addition to her musings on social media, music, television, film, books and events, she holds down a bi-weekly column called 'Socialnista' for Lifestyle & Charity Magazine, contributes monthly to SLife Magazine Online, NearSayNY.com and Her Journey Magazine.
Desiree received her Bachelors of Arts in Media Arts from Wesley College, Master's of Business Administration in Marketing from Walden University Online and is currently a PhD student in the School of Management for Leadership and Organization Change.
