Bio

The hottest trends are coming out of the artisan, farmer, food, and flea markets throughout New York City. Karen Seiger, Author, Blogger, and Explorer, will keep you ahead of the curve with the latest in food, fashion, design, and décor with reports from the heart of the markets!

Karen Seiger is the author Markets of New York City: A Guide to the Best Artisan, Farmer, Food and Flea Markets (Little Bookroom 2010). She continues to write about markets on her blog, www.MarketsOfNewYork.com.  On weekdays, she is the founding principal of Sirene MediaWorks, a social media and loyalty marketing firm.

Karen lives in the city with her husband James, a cat they saved from the streets of Mozambique, and a collection of rescued orchids. She volunteers with the Tribute WTC Visitors Center as a tour guide of the World Trade Center site.  Karen speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dutch and Italian, and she’s happy to have you come along as she explores the neighborhoods and markets every weekend.

My Work
I know, right?! This chocolate pudding pie from the wonderful bakers at Pie Corps at the New Amsterdam Market was absolutely amazing. It’s about 5 1/2 inches across, which should satisfy at least 2 people, or 1 chocoholic.
Caja's nameplate jewelry reminds me of the Sex and the City scene in Paris when Carrie Bradshaw finds her missing “Carrie” nameplate in her vintage Chanel clutch and gets her mojo back.
