Anna Roy offers an approach to the practice of yoga which honors the depth of its spiritual context while maintaining a strong emphasis on correct physical alignment.
Her training is grounded in Classical Hatha Yoga with strong influences from the Iyengar and Vinyasa styles. She is certified with Yoga Alliance and continues to learn and deepen her practice through workshops and classes at Iyengar institue and Budhist meditation studies. While classical Yoga provides the philosophical and spiritual framework; Iyengar offers an anatomically precise and methodical approach to the physics of asana and Vinyasa Yoga imparts grace, stamina and an eloquent sense of flow to its practitioner. This allows for the body to be analytical, intuitive and poetic all at once.
Roy teaches in-home private and studio classes emphasizing on subtle body energy arrangements, lines of action, breath and integrating them so that practioners are at ease in the pose while awake and sensual. Each student will receive the proper level of attention so that they can not just learn proper techniques, but find their own path to a deeper awareness of their physical form and their relationship with the world around them.
As part of her efforts to spread the benefits of yoga, Roy encourages her students to give the Gift of Yoga to their friends and members of their communities
