Opening its doors at 273 Bowery in March 2006, the 44,000-square-foot community building includes state-of-the-art recreational and educational facilities, and plenty of flexible, rentable, space.

Boasting an impressive legacy as the first settlement house in the United States, University Settlement has been an incubator for progressive ideas for 125 years, offering pioneering programs in mental health, early childhood education, literacy, and adolescent development that set the standard.

Rentals

The Houston Street Center is a unique resource to a wide range of groups serving the community by providing useful and convenient space at affordable rates – starting at $25 an hour! Each rental helps to underwrite the cost of our valuable community programs.

Rental options include: high-quality, low-cost meeting rooms, conference rooms, and training and recreational space available for one-time, short-term or long-term rental. All rental proceeds help underwrite the cost of University Settlement's programs for the individuals and families of the Lower East Side, Chinatown, Little Italy and Loisaida.
