About Janelle's Restaurant
Janelle's is a family owned restaurant founded and opened in May 2011 in Prospect Heights, just steps from the Brooklyn Museum and a short stroll from the Barclays Center at Atlantic Yards, future home of the Nets basketball team.
Janelle’s dishes are a mixture of both Caribbean and American foods. The owners hail from the tiny and beautiful island of Trinidad, and wanted to introduce New Yorkers to some of their native, mouth-watering dishes. Their goal is to provide customers with good food in a warm relaxing atmosphere. They encourage you to put down the knife and fork and get down with your hands, just like back home.

Love the food at Janelle's. I usually get the smoked herring with the coconut bake for brunch, it's absolutely delicious. I switched it up a bit on my last visit and got the saltfish...amazing. Love Janelle's! It's quickly become a neighborhood favorite. Great for authentic Caribbean food (this coming from a native of Trinidad). I especially enjoy the oxtails and macaroni pie. Also, the brunch is yummy! Try the coconut bake, smoke herring and saltfish. Oh, and the live jazz on Sundays is a really nice touch. The service can be a little slow but it's worth the wait. Hopefully they hire more staff as their business booms. Yelp.com
