When the delectable Italian culinary art makes it way through the generations you can't help but feel honored to be a part of the family history.
Such is the tradition at Zi' Pep, which has been erected as a tribute to owner Gerard Renny and Chef Paul Di Bari's Italian upbringing.
The name is in fact an homage to another restaurant that was owned by Renny's grandparents called "Pep's Bar & Grill" and more specifically his grandfather Guiseppe; Pep to his friends. Zio means uncle in Italian; so Zi Pep became a term of endearment for the owner of the popular hangout.
Continuing decades of tradition Chef Paul Di Bari will be keeping with traditional Southern Italian cooking which is simple, seasonal and authentic. Naturally taking points from his upbringing Di Bari will be bringing to the plate Pasta e Ceci which reminds him of a dish his mother used to make that includes pastina, dash of pasta water, butter and parmesan.
If you're of Italian descent, then you've definitely been guilty of using the terms "macaroni" and "pasta" interchangeably, and will delighted to see that Renny and Chef Paul Di Bari are continuing this tradition in their menu.
