The historic J.J.’s Navy Yard Cocktail Lounge has leased its location to a joint venture between Dunkin Donuts and Subway.
J.J.’s Navy Yard Cocktail Lounge had been in business for over 100 years but closed shop in 2010. J.J.’s grew from catering ship builders of World War I and World War II tankers. In its final days it served Navy Yard personnel. The lounge was known for its historic and memorable feel, keeping traditions and style alive since its opening in 1907.
“They’re taking away a piece of history,” owner Steve Frankel stated to vanishingblogspot, when the building was sold for $3 million. He then told filmmaker Reed Korach, "If I close everything down, what am I gonna do, sit on my couch and get fat and dumpy? I don't want to do that. I'm not ready to die yet."
