Event Details: Fri Feb 24, 2012 - 7:00pm at New York Live Arts ( 219 W. 19th St., bet. 7th & 8th Aves. )

Performing arts often create a dynamic that can only be understood by viewing it. Each movement provokes a sense of emotion, and as you look to the stage, you begin to notice that the art comes to life in your mind. This month, if you are a lover of the arts, you can view a special presentation of This Horse is Not a Home at New York Live Arts.

The performance will take place from February 24-25 with two shows, starting at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The production is a part of New York Live Arts' 2011-2012 Studio Series, and two work-in-progress showings performed by devynn emory with Margot Bassett, Jaamil Kosoko, and Meghan Milam.

As a choreographer and dancer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, devynn emory has been in New York City for two years as a resident of the Studio Series. Through presenting a work-in-process, emory is a transgender artist who investigates the consequence of action initiated or applied to the weighted body. Throughout the process, emory asks, “If I push down hard enough, will you rise up to meet me? Trust.  If you are going to do something, do it.”

After each showing, there will be an In-Process Talk moderated by Andrew Simonet.

Ticket prices start at $5, and you can purchase tickets online, by phone (212) 924-0077 or in person at the box office. There will be no late seating, so come early to see the show at New York Live Arts.

Box Office Hours:

Monday - Friday: 1 to 9 p.m.
