Theaterlab presents the United States premiere of Heart-wommmen-3, Jacques Perdigues's visually arresting piece that melds painting, video and theater into a heart-pumping, sensuous experience at its downtown studios (137 West 14th Street).
Based on Femmme by playwright and screenwriter Christian Rullier, HW3 is the raw, poetic perspective of a man through the eyes of a woman.
The eye-popping piece is conceived and directed by Jacques Perdigues, whose credits include assisting Thierry Mugler and Galliano, designing sets and costumes for Victoria Chaplin, and doing art direction for French cabaret star Jean Guido. Perdigues has also worked with French soprano-accordionist Nicole Renaud on her show Couleurs. The piece is performed by Nanette Stanley, Julia Wilkins and Jacques Perdigues.
HW3 is a voyage into the core of words, emotions and the body -- a voyage into the universe and time. The piece is ultimately an exploration of the heart from all sides, dimensions and scales, in order to re-establish the heart as an emotional and physical center, as an engine to all actions and as a pillar to all sentient life.
Performances of HW3 are February 22 through 25, 2012, Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 pm at Theaterlab (137 West 14th St., between 6th and 7th Ave., Subway: 1/2/3 or A/C/E or F/M to 14th St. or L to 6th Ave.). Tickets are $15 at Theaterlab’s web site or by calling 866-811-4111.
