Something to 'Fear' on 21st Street, Now through Halloween
Something to 'Fear' on 21st Street, Now through Halloween - Chelsea - Arts & Culture - NYC

With Halloween approaching at breakneck speed, many of us are looking for creative new ways to celebrate our favorite holiday. If you'd like to spend some time getting pushed around by mental patients and don't feel like taking the subway, check out 'Fear on 21 Street', the brand new haunted house terrifying audiences now through the end of October. Billed as New York's newest haunted attraction, 'Fear' is the creation of theatre and film producer, Yeeshai Gross, and this walk through a fictitious asylum for the criminally insane is full of thrills and chills both expected.

Upon arriving you are supplied with an escort to direct you through this house of horrors, complete with a smorgasbord of body parts that are not necessarily connected. I particularly enjoyed the woman who had the bottom half of her body surgically removed with the vertebrae fully exposed! Then again, I’ve always been somewhat of a spine man. If you prefer legs, there are plenty of those lying around. There’s lots of gore, but according to Mr. Gross, the guided tour is what sets 'Fear' apart from other such attractions. The execution (no pun intended) is partly a result of his strong background in theatre. According to Yeeshai, ''Fear' is theatrically based and story line driven.' After a walk through last night, I can attest that its actors are both fun and convincing and the show is full of surprises.

I’d recommend it for anyone looking for a few thrills before braving the New York nightlife. For all the gory details don’t be afraid to visit their website: www.fear21.com. Happy Halloween!

'Fear on 21st Street' is located at 12 West 21st Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues.

I was there the other day. Didn't think I would be scared, I did jump and let out a shriek. Great fun! I recommend it.
