Under the High Line can be pretty fun too.

The Friends of the High Line are on the hunt for a full-service restaurant to operate underneath the High Line at Gansevoort and Washington streets in October 2013. .

A request for proposals was sent last week, and today the Friends of the High Line extended the deadline for submissions until Friday, March 30.

The restaurant, part of the High Line's $14.6 million maintenance-and-operations building, will take up 16,000 square feet and including floor-to-ceiling windows. The new restaurant will be designed by architect Renzo Piano and Beyer Blinder.

A 10-year lease will go to the winning proposal, though a portion of the restaurant's profits will go to the High Line. Designers might want to curb more outlandish ideas since the Friends of the High Line must approve the menu, interior design and operational plan, according to Eater.

Inching closer to completion, the High Line is setting themselves up for big-time success with the addition of this new restaurant, as well as their sole support for a possible expansion of the Chelsea Market.
