After a meeting with Community Board 2, approval was granted to The Standard Hotel to serve alcohol in more public spaces and further into the night, Eater reports. Despite some concerns from the neighborhood, the hotel compromised on only one aspect of its new plan – that the roof bar and lounge (which will now be a regular stand-up bar) close at 2 a.m. rather than 4 a.m. Other changes include turning the third floor from a catering-only space into a public area, and adding seats to the north plaza during warm seasons for public use. These and other public areas will also be seeing extended hours of operation giving everyone a few more hours of drinking.
