Swagging it with Shecky's 'Girls Night Out'
Swagging it with Shecky's 'Girls Night Out' - Chelsea - Shopping - NYC
Alyson Campbell

Nightly from March 8th through 11th, Shecky’s hosted its seasonal shopping soiree “Girls Night Out” in a giant raw space called La Venue in West Chelsea offering shopping, cosmetics, treatments and cocktails galore.

Everything a girl could need to be pampered and prepped for a night on the town was made available on-site. Eye lash lengthening? Sure, visit the Latisse booth. Teeth Whitening? Yep, they had that too. You could line up for just about any service including manicures and massages by Oasis Day Spa, a Brow Bar for all your shaping needs, makeovers at the Maybelline Color Studio, and mixology classes at the Cointreau Martini Station.

Amidst the services was shopping too, with sporadic clothing vendors like MessesOfDresses.com, the odd shoe collection like Hendrick Brun, and foldable flats by CityFlips, as well as several look-alike accessory vendors with intricate handmade jewelry and on-trend studded leather cuffs.

And if luck was on your side, there were plenty of opportunities to enter to win prizes and freebies from skin specialists like American Laser Center and Laser Cosmetica among others (I already got a call that I won a $300 gift certificate!).

The atmosphere was fun with music pumping thanks to an in-house DJ and drinks like Bud Light, Bacardi Raz and Finlandia Martinis were flowing.

Finding myself on complete estrogen overload, I think real shopping would have been a touch overwhelming in a space that was such a feast for the eyes but browsing and getting educated on the latest in products and services was definitely doable.

Just when we had all the shopping, mingling, and indulging we could handle, the Hamptons Jitney was on hand to provide a free luxury shuttle service back to the subway station at 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue, which was a nice touch, given the slightly off-grid neighborhood.

In the end, I think any ticket holder would agree that they're in it for the most swaggerific of swag bags (pictured). Mine was packed not just with promotional flyers, but useful stuff like Febreeze room spray, Popchips, FRS energy drink, Suave body wash, Dentek floss, Kiss emery boards, Cointreau martini shaker, Jergen's shea butter, Luna energy bars, Lady Speedstick, and the book, The Chaos, by Rachel Ward.
Shecky's: a girls night out indeed.
