Sharing a love for their community, ten couples will celebrate Valentine's Day weekend by helping to paint the youth center at the Jacob Riis Houses in Alphabet City. Habitat for Humanity's "Brush with Kindness" program works to restore low-income community facilities, and will be on hand on Saturday, February 12, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to help paint the youth center alongside community residents. The group has recently raised $6,700 that will go toward future Habitat for Humanity building efforts, which will include more New York City Housing Authority community spaces in the future.
For more information on painting the Jacob Riis Houses, visit Habitat for Humanity's New York City website.
The Jabob Riis Houses Valentine's Day Paint-a-thon will take place at 80 Avenue D, at East 6th Street.
