As a lover of all things frozen yogurt, I have made it my personal mission to try as many locations throughout the city as possible. When I recently stopped into 16 Handles in the East Village I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied that I finally found my prime “Froyo” spot.
The best frozen yogurt places are those that allow you to make your own concoctions. At 16 Handles you can choose from a rotating selection of 16 flavors. Take the safe route with the classic Plain Tart and you will never be disappointed - but don't be afraid to try all the unique flavors! I try to combine at least three flavors per cup during my visits.
In honor of the fall season, I was determined to find a Pumpkin flavor that really wowed by taste-buds, and 16 Handles has given me exactly what I wanted! There was no overwhelming pumpkin spice flavor in this treat. It was like cutting into a cool slice of pumpkin pie topped with yogurt chips and granola. It was simply, amazing.
Of course you cannot just try one flavor of frozen yogurt. This time I combined Eurotart, Pumpkin and the classic Strawberry Fields for my frozen treat!
Since 16 Handles is a serve-yourself venue, I was able to overload my cup as much as I wanted (sometimes you just cannot resist some good frozen yogurt). As soon as I made my choices I headed over to the Toppings Station to start the real fun.
For what I felt was for my personal enjoyment, there was a huge variety of toppings to choose from. I started with a bit of strawberry and topped that with granola, yogurt chips and a sprinkle of peanut butter candy. As I began to salivate over my creation I headed to the counter, weighed my cup and paid before I sat down to dig right in.
The frozen yogurt at 16 Handles has easily jumped to the top of my list. The serve-yourself system and the wide variety of flavors has me intrigued to stop by again and again and again. Everything was just right about my frozen yogurt experience at 16 Handles, from the atmosphere to the service and of course, the delicious frozen yogurt.
