Finally reaching its debut date on Sunday, January 15, the Bowery Diner has opened, and the wolves are at the door ready to comment.
Eater gives us a good news, bad news situation. Opinions are sketchy on what to make of the Bowery - not so surprising, given all the "foodies" out there.
The first wave of customers praised the raw whelks, while others were not taken with the prices, nor the service.
One Eater commenter claimed the Bowery Diner simply "missed the mark on too many levels." Another scoffed at paying $20 for a burger.
The surrounding area might not be much to look at in terms of where you would go for fine dining. Supposedly the Lower East Side smell will go away once you're inside what appears to be a classic diner, with the most attractive of staff members, Zagat reports. Even the kids are showing up their seniors. Scores of families were on the scene to check out the Bowery, and these kids aren't you're garden variety, but NYC variety.
The shady neighborhood gives it a diamond-in-the-rough vibe, says Zagat, or is it just platinum spoons weighing down LES.
