Eater reports that Community Board 3 on Wednesday has just rejected liquor licenses for two closed Avenue A establishments - Aces & Eights’ replacement and the eatery set to supplant Superdive. Aces & Eights was recently shut down twice before closing for good. Owner Jevan Damadian hoped to reestablish a new bar at the location, even reaching out to local residents for support, but the board declined to issue them a liquor license.
Superdive’s new tenants, who had aimed to establish a restaurant with a smell machine and 13-foot bar, were also denied a transference of liquor license from the previous tenant. The rejection, however, will not prohibit the new investors from applying for another license, but Eater speculates that chances of a new license’s approval are slim.
