If you are looking to celebrate the holidays New York style, consider a night at Cha Cha’s. This Little Italy staple is owned by John Ciarcia, aka Cha Cha, a regular in mob movies for decades. Once inside you can't help but notice a wall filled with photos of the biggest names in Hollywood, all of whom have enjoyed a night of great food, drink, and ambiance in this true New York landmark.
Last week I attended a party there hosted by actor Vincent Pastore who played Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero on The Sopranos until his untimely demise in season two. After Big Pussy introduced me to Tony Soprano impersonator Donald Metzger we all kicked back and listened to a band called Killer Joe all the while enjoying some great food and Cha Cha's home made wine. Soon, my good friend John Anello joined them for a few tunes. I have to say, hearing a mandolin player sitting in with a blues band in a restaurant in Little Italy qualifies as a true New York experience! Next, they welcomed Cha Cha to the mic for his rendition of 'House of the Rising Sun.' Talk about a good time, Fuggedaboutit!
