Recently, Simonet Productions took a look at the Greenwich Village British restaurant, Tea & Sympathy with a video directed by Richaud Valls. Speaking with owners Sean Perry and Nicky Perry, the viewers get a look into how this quaint restaurant began.
Coming into the restaurant about 21 years ago after hearing a story about its owner, Sean Perry immediately fell in love with this brilliant women. After arriving in America, Nicky Perry was taken aback by the perception and “disparaging remarks,” that Americans had on British food. The basis behind opening Tea & Sympathy was to dispel these misconceptions about British dining.
The video takes the viewer straight into the restaurant as diners enjoy pleasant conversation, a welcoming environment and a meal that they surely can't get anywhere else. You will find plenty of British memorabilia along the walls, including Prince William and Kate collectibles and of course pieces depicting the late Princess Diana.
After 21 years, the restaurant has proven its point with their regular clientele coming in 2-3 times a week and new customers who are pleased in the cuisine and nostalgia that they find. After such success, ten years ago the owners decided to open a proper Fish n' Chips shop right next door, A Salt & Battery.
Now with three shops, including Carry On Tea & Sympathy Sean and Nicky Perry are the only people in New York City taking a stand and bringing successful British food into America. With the help of Simonet Productions, this company will propel itself even further into success.
