City Harvest is launching a new fundraising event with a New Orleans theme featuring the Grammy-nominated New Orleans Institution Rebirth Brass Band. The event entitled "The Big Easy in the Big Apple" is aiming to raise as much as $30,000 for City Harvest, which will be allocated to providing food for New York’s hungry.
In conjunction with Rebirth Brass Band, a handful of New York City restaurants, including Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Delicatessen, and The Little Owl will participate in donating.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 6-9 p.m., at the Alexandria Center for Life Science, on East 29th Street near First Avenue.
In addition to the event's food and music, a silent auction will be held. Items up for auction include a vacation package to New Orleans, tickets to a taping of “Iron Chef,” as well as a number of gift certificates for a variety of spas and restaurants.
