Although the shops on Fifth Avenue are only a hop, skip and a jump away for Gramercy residents, there are really no go-to shops right in the neighborhood when you need that last-minute wardrobe fix in a hurry... until now.
Newcomer Gramercy Project is the third location for Kim Phan's Project Shops, with existing locations already thriving in Greenwich Village (Project 159) and NoLiTa (Project 234).
The store, which just opened its doors on Valentine's Day (2011), houses young designer brands like Dolce Vita and New York local, Yumi Kim. The collections feature vintage-inspired prints and silhouettes that are feminine but with a distinct urban flare.
In addition to clothing, the boutique also retails accessories including California shoe designer Jeffrey Campbell and intricate handbags by Hob. The store is rounded out by other stylish touches like scented candles and decorative books.
Their aim is to offer a one-stop-shop for the complete outfit, while staying in the middle range for price, keeping everything under $200 for the most part. Whether you need to run in to pick up a dress, clutch or jewelry in a pinch, or to be styled from head-to-toe by their super friendly staff, it's almost impossible to walk out empty handed.
Gramercy Project is located at 240 Third Avenue, at East 20th Street. Hours: 12-8 p.m. (Monday - Saturday) and 12-7 p.m. (Sunday). 212.533.1036.
