As you travel the road of New York night life it is easy to lose your way. There are so many possible STOPS that it’s sometimes hard to know where to GO. However, a good choice is Traffic. Since their launch this past May this popular Hell's Kitchen bar/restaurant has made a name for itself with both locals and the areas ample supply of visitors.
One of the club’s strong points is it’s flow. The layout makes it easy to circle the room, thereby preventing gridlock. They also feature great food, signature drinks and 10 giant screens. One of its most unique features is a giant traffic light, located in the bar’s back corner. Watch for the green light which comes on periodically and signals that a drink special is about to be offered.
Also, make sure to check out their recently revved-up menu which features many tasty dishes including fried shrimp po- boys and grilled pork chops. During a recent visit my liquid diet consisted of two high octane martinis (kiwi raspberry and cucumber lychee) as well as a glass of their featured sangria, all excellent recommendations of bar manager Ben Miller.
Traffic opens daily by 11:30am and the road doesn't close until 1am on Sunday and 2am Monday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday the stop sign doesn't go up until 4am. If you'd like to merge right in consider checking out their New Year's Eve party, featuring a five hour premium open bar, two hours of passed hors d'oeuvres + champagne toast @ midnight for $85. You can also pay as you go if you prefer to go toll-free.
You can also visit Traffic's East Side location, 986 2nd Avenue between 52nd & 53rd Street.
Traffic is located at 701 9th Avenue @ 48th street.
