The former sultry Golden Girl Rue McClanahan's apartment finally went up for sale following her death two years ago. The Observer identified the buyer as "clean-energy guru" Alan Salzman who paid $1.75 million.
According to the listing's brokers, Matthew George and Michael Moran of Douglas Elliman, McClanahan actually combined two apartments in the building and created the 2,000 square feet inside, which also features a 2,000 square foot garden.
One of the more interesting facets of the apartment is the secret passageway, disguised as a spice-rack, that leads to a bathroom (?). She also added a library off the master bedroom.
When asked if Salzman ever watched the Golden Girls, his assistant responsed, "No, he cannot speak about that," she told The Observer tersely.
