I was planning a weekend trip to NYC a few weeks ago. I was given two house seats to see Book of Mormon on Broadway on a Saturday night and wanted to make the most of the three days I was going to be here. I called my friends over at ManhattaWalkingTour.com for some restaurant recommendations and activities.
I had been to NYC in the spring and had taken a Times Square grand walking tour with them. It was almost 4 hours of walking and a great anecdotal tour of the area, but what really struck me was the food. These people know food so naturally I called them so they could tell me where to go for this trip to NYC. Garry, owner and founder of Manhattan Walking Tour, who is very familiar with the pressing nature of trying to have a nice dinner, but also get out in time to see the show, gave me some pretty great recommendations for dinner.
I ended up going with the first one, which I wanted to share here. It is called L'Ybane (709 8th Ave.) and it is the greatest little French Mediterranean wine bar with delicious small plates. This is a great find in the Theatre District, with loads of different kinds of wine and reasonably priced delicious Mediterranean fare. If you are coming to New York City, even if you aren't going to the theater, you should absolutely try this place. Oh, and if you really want to get to know NYC and all the great food it has to offer, you should also make time for one of the tours at manhattanwalkingtour.com. You will not regret either!
