President’s Day is just around the corner and kids across New York are gearing up for their mid-winter break. Unfortunately, though, a week-long vacation is out of the question for many working parents.

If you’re looking for an interesting way to keeping your kids from sitting in front of the TV for all of February break, take a look at the Spring Art’s Colony at the Children’s Museum of the Arts in the West Village. The museum is offering two mid-winter break programs that engage children ages 6-12 in scores of creative projects.

The Mixed Media and Collage Assemblage Workshop introduces kids to the work of modern masters like Duchamp, Rauchenburg and Calder while allowing them to explore their own projects in found-object, mobile and collage art.

In the Museum’s Radio Podcast Workshop, kids get to hone their performance and storytelling skills, writing, editing, and broadcasting their own radio segments.

For more unique midwinter break options for kids and family, visit the Children's Museum of the Arts.
