Event Details: Sat Oct 1, 2011 - 12:00am at Children's Museum of Arts ( 103 Charlton St., bet. Hudson & Greenwich Sts. )

Take your future Banksy or Olek to the Children’s Museum of the Arts for the Make Art (In) Public exhibit at the museum's brand new location at 103 Charlton St. As recognition of street art continues to grow, even with Brooklyn Museum's cancellation of Art in the Streets, Make Art (In) Public focuses on public art's power to improve communities, contribute positively to the culture of New York City, and to provide access to the arts.

Make Art (In) Public will showcase art from The Gates creators Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Keith Haring, and the artist Swoon, among others. The exhibit will also show the ways that early public artists continue to inform the efforts of contemporary artists.

The CMA moved to their new 10,000-square-foot site on Oct. 1. The museum features a broad collection of modern artwork catering to new artists with kid-friendly classes and workshops.
