Like Adam Sandler sings, there are so many Jews in show biz; but when it comes to family-friendly parodies, 'Weird' Al Yankovic isn't, but Mama Doni is. The New York Times recommends spending time with Mama Doni to celebrate the sabbath -- after the sabbath, of course -- as she gives a preview of her upcoming album 'Shabbat Shaboom' at the Museum of Jewish Heritage on Sunday. Cited as 'part 'Weird' Al Yankovich, and part Sarah Silverman (but appropriate for kids!)' Doni and her band specialize in writing about Jewish culture, through a wide variety of musical styles, including rock, dance, Latin, and traditional Klezmer music. The jokes may be silly and a little 'insider,' but she does rock for all ages.
More on the Mama Doni Band and their upcoming gig in support of Shabbat Shaboom can be found at The New York Times.
The Museum of Jewish Heritage is located at 36 Battery Place, near First Place.
