New design renderings offer a look into the highly anticipated Fulton Street Transit Center. The modern $1.4 billion station is scheduled to open in mid-2014, and will be a main artery for the city’s transportation lines, offering connections to 10 subway lines.

DNAinfo reports the new renderings show glass tiled walls and a large 53-foot domed skylight. The transit hub will have a digital subway information map consisting of large LCD screens and scrolling messages stating train schedules and changes.

The renderings also show subterranean pedestrian walkways beneath Dey Street, which will open in November. The walkway will contain mirrored walls that distort reflections into hazy shapeless colors and shapes.

The transit center and adjacent historic Corbin Building will include about 70,000 square feet of shops, restaurants and office space, with tables and seats overlooking Broadway and the World Trade Center.

Uday Durg, senior Vice President of the MTA stated, “What we are trying to do is create a great public space. We want to make sure it is a positive public attraction.”
