Event Details: Sun Jan 29, 2012 - 2:00pm at William E. Cottle School ( 2 Siwanoy Blvd., Eastchester, NY )

Driving cars and directing your own movie is child's play.

Instead of letting your child run around the house all summer, sign them up for Challenge Camp for an interactive enrichment experience this summer that will marvel the mind.

Challenge Camp has been enabling children to release their inner creativity for over 30 years, and has proven to be Westchester County's greatest day camp getaway for New York City children. Children will have so much fun that they will forget that they are actually learning, and with Challenge Camp, there are a wide range of activities for children to partake in that offer more than just everyday sports.

Challenge Camp provides a variety of workshops and sports instruction for gifted and talented children from pre-kindergarten through junior high school. In 2012, Challenge Camp will be celebrating its 32nd year combining educational excellence and camp fun with two sessions for a total of 7 weeks, and here are some the things your children can do:

  • Assemble and drive a remote control Mini Cooper
  • Produce, direct and act in their own short film
  • Develop a business to raise money for children's charities
  • Learn the Queen's Gambit in chess
  • Design their own interactive computer game
  • Originate an international fashion line
  • Rehearse skits in a stand-up and sketch comedy show
  • Customize and assemble their own personal computer
  • Converse in Italian, Spanish and Russian
  • Create infinitely imaginative architectural designs
  • Write, illustrate and publish a book

Pre-kindergarten students experience the innovative Discover, Imagine and Create featuring weekly themes throughout the summer for children to learn creative thinking through drama, movement, poetry, art and scientific experimentation.

Your child will be able to select from 45 educational workshops which begin at 9 a.m and are enhanced by an optional afternoon sports program, or additional enrichment opportunities guided by afternoon director Joseph Fields. Challenge Camp also offers a nutritious hot lunch for campers. This year Challenge Camp continues to expand its afternoon format, with many exciting new options including Brush Up with Shakespeare, Cookie Monster, Make ‘Em Laugh, Puppet Street, Sweet Temptations, Under the Sea, CheerS, Mechanical Marvels and “Project Runway”.

The Summer 2012 sessions will be held from June 25th through July 20th and from July 23rd through August 10th at the William E. Cottle School in Eastchester, NY, with bus service for children living in Manhattan.

To find out more about Challenge Camp 2012, you can attend an Open House on Sunday, January 29th from 1-3 p.m. at the William E. Cottle School. There will be class presentations, food and fun with magic, astronomy, race cars, and music so come discover all that Challenge Camp has to offer!
