Either this is a serious crime or a new gameshow - "Who Stole My Stuff?"
Murray Schwartz, the renowned former Merv Griffin Enterprises CEO behind "Wheel of Fortune," "Jeopardy!" and "Dance Fever," says his apartment at The Carlyle was destroyed by a water leak and then looted of valuables while the building's management tried to cover it all up, newly filed court papers charge, the New York Post reports.
Schwartz claims that he was told his apartment was destroyed last July after a maintenance worker left a faucet on while watering plants in an upstairs unit. While management withheld details about the extent of the damange, valuables were stolen from the apartment.
The water caused more than $350,000 in damage. Some of the stolen items include gold cuff links, a 990-year-old watch, caviar spoons, a fine glass frog collection and a Canon 50D digital camera.
Schwartz tells the Post he feels "betrayed" by the events.
