According to the New York Post, in a confusingly, ridiculous chain of events that left members of the jury laughing, construction worker-turned-real estate magnate Thomas Hartmann was taken to court for allegedly beating a stripper with his Rolex.
The way the story was told involved a heated exchange between Hartmann and the Russian born Sophia Kandelaki, culminating in Hartmann giving her $100 for cab fare, and Kandelaki "jokingly" asking for more.
Kandelaki needed 16 stiches to close the hole in in her forehead.
The one-legged real-estate magnate said in court "I never meant to hit her," insisting he lost balance on the prosthetic leg when she reached for his dough.
Hartmann broke down in tears as his sentence of 60 days in jail was announced.
