The Upper West Side is looking like an art-sier episode of Jumanji these days.
The Broadway Mall Association (BMA), in conjunction with the Lincoln Square BID and the Morrison Gallery, has installed 46 colorful bronze animal sculptures in the medians along Broadway between Columbus Circle and Morningside Heights, West Side Spirit reports.
The installations are the first outdoor exhibit for artist Peter Woytuk.
Curious pedestrians will be greeted by a life-sized pair of elephants at Columbus Circle, as well as numerous other animals, including a 2,500-pound trio of seated bulls in Morningside Heights.
"We want to make the Broadway malls a major public art venue in New York City," Nancy Chaffetz, vice president of development of the BMA said.
The installations will run through April 2012.
