Grammy Award winning diva Patti LaBelle is fighting an "emotional distress" suit against her after an alleged scuffle between herself and a child in a Riverside Drive apartment building.
According to the New York Post, LaBelle is being hit with a $75,000 lawsuit claiming emotional damage to the then 18-month-old daughter of Roseanna and Kevin Monk.
According to the suit, the Monk's daughter, Genevieve was playing in the building's lobby on November 11, 2010, when LaBelle started screaming. LaBelle reportedly said, "What are you doing letting your kid run around like that?" Roseanna claims LaBelle began throwing water at her and the child. LaBelle then tried to "take a swing" at Roseanne, the suit says. LaBelle was rushed off by her entourage as the child threw up, according to Celebrity Laundry.
This is not the music sensation's first legal issue.
Last June, a U.S. Military Academy Cadet was beaten by LaBelle's entourage allegedly for no reason, according to ABC Go. The young man filed suit against the diva, as well, which she fought, claiming he forced himself into the limousine, sexually harassing her and using racial slurs.
In this instance, however, Labelle contends that the Monks "are more than 50 percent at fault," for her yelling profanity, while trying to stop the raucous by dousing the 18-month old child with water.
