It’s February first and yes, those hearts and doilies adorning your local storefronts are heralding the arrival of that candlelit, Hallmark-sponsored, love fest we know so well.
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and Time Out New York has a unique suggestion for how you and your lovebird could spend national date night.
If all the tables for two at your favorite restaurants have already filled up, dazzle your significant other with a slightly less traditional Valentine’s evening, and go interplanetary at the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space.
The Museum of Natural History is having a Valentine’s Day shin-dig that is sure to make for a stellar night, literally. Dodge the cold, and take in the constellations in the Museum’s observatory.
Before you go into orbit, share a champagne toast, (or several,) and enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres in the Rose Center’s Hall of the Universe. The prelude to your star gazing session will be complimented by the musical stylings of the Josh Rutner Quartet and elegant snacks like baby artichoke and chanterelle tartlets, grilled flatbread pizzas, and assorted truffles.
Afterward, head to the planetarium for stargazing accompanied by romantic tales based on the mythology of the cosmos.
The event takes place on February 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 175 Central Park West. Act fast to reserve a spot - tickets, ($85 a piece,) will sell at the speed of light!
