"Sounds of the City", the 2012 EMP Pop Conference presented by NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and jointly held with IASPM-US Annual Conference is coming up in March! This series of academic lectures proves to bring insight into various aspects of music history as it relates to city life. Of special interest will be a roundtable on Saturday March 24th focusing on punk legend Alice Bag's new memoir Violence Girl and a later panel that day on Warhol's New York. A huge range of genres and artists will be discussed over the four day event, so it's worth giving the schedule a look. The keynote speaker is Santigold and the event will also feature Esperanza Spalding. Best of all - this conference is free and open to the public! Registration is required for attendance and can be done at this link.
