Based on Stephen King's classic bestselling novel, the musical production of Carrie is returning for the first time since it's 1988 Broadway run. The show's original authors have joined director Stafford Arima and the MCC Theater for a newly reworked and fully re-imagined vision of the horror story. Set in modern day, Carrie features music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford. Cast includes Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie as Carrie's mother and Molly Ranson as the vengeful, fragile girl herself.
Carrie runs from February 9 through March 26.
If you can't get down to New Orleans in time for Mardi Gras and still want to celebrate Fat Tuesday New York style then get down to Le Poisson Rouge for Two Boots' third annual Mardi Gras Ball on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. This benefit for The Lower East Side Girls Club is presented by Two Boots pizzeria. The club was founded in 1996 to address the lack of services available to girls and young women on the LES and they need a new building on Avenue D; all the proceeds will go to this endeavor. This will epitomize Two Boot's sensibility, offering an authentic celebration of the tradition and a diversity of artists from the Big Apple and the Big Easy.
The evening will be hosted by performances by Rosario Dawson and by New York and New Orleans artists Los Po-Boy Citos, Raya Brass Band, DJ Trio "Us Girls," and more.
