This rent comes with music to your ears.

As anyone in a rent-controlled apartment will attest, it can be a fantastic situation. Of the 16,000 or so rent-controlled apartments left in the city, a few lie above the Cherry Lane Theater, according to Curbed, and one of them will knock your socks off.

The building has 1,200 square-foot apartments with four bedrooms and 11-foot ceilings where tennants pay as little as $331.76 per month.

Throw that in with the $127 per month 1,000-square-foot pad on Morton Street, and the West Village is looking pretty good.

"I don't plan on dying because I don't want to give up a rent-controlled apartment," said one of the lucky tenants, Arnold Warwick.

Landlord Angelina Fiordellisa told the Times that the apartment's tenants pay a about $65,000 per year in rent which hardly breaks even on building costs.

Despite all this good news, tenants will always find reasons for complaint. In this building's case, it's the noise from the theater downstairs.
