Do you shochu?
Japanese shochu is distilled from a variety of sources including barley, sweet potatoes, buckwheat and rice. Often compared to vodka, shochu blends well with fruits, herbs and juices as well as soda and tonic.
If you are health-concious, shochu is a great option for you. In addition to its easy-to-mix flexibility, shochu offers less calories: on average, 1.5 ounces of hard liquor is about 100 calories; by comparison, that same amount of shochu is about 30 calories.
There are several creative shochu-infusions found on SUSHISAMBA’s beverage menu, including the recipe below which is currently being served at SAMBAHOUR. SAMBAHOUR is SUSHISAMBA’s high octane version of happy hour which in February is focused on the cuisine and culture of Japan (March is Brazil, and April is Peru, so stay tuned for more thematic recipes coming soon!).
