A creative journey with a little reward!

Have you ever wished you knew more about art but don't feel confident to ask questions in a gallery setting? Would you like to learn about the creative process first-hand rather than just admire the finished piece? Do you enjoy a weekend amble with a glass of Prosecco as a reward? If you answered 'yes' to any of these, then I may have found the perfect Sunday afternoon activity for you!

InContext Tours, led by Elizabeth Tenebaum and Elissa Levy, will be holding their fall kick-off tour on September 25th, here in lovely Greenpoint. InContext Tours are a unique opportunity for direct interaction with emerging and established artists in their actual studios. Book-ended by 'watering' stops at local bars, The Habitat and Milk and Roses, Elissa and Elizabeth will take you to visit Everest Hall, Zoe Pettijohn Schade, Diana Puntar, and Yadir Quintana.

I asked why these particular artists were chosen and was informed that they demonstrate a "range of abstraction, layering, trompe l’oeil, control and freedom in painting and sculpture.  Although each artist addresses both materials and concepts differently, they all have a similar way of looking at the world and reimagining its sense of space, whether it is in painting or sculpture. There will be something for everyone as the artistic concepts behind the works range from formulaic in process to otherworldly and utopian."

If that sounds in any way intimidating, don't be put off - the tours are casual and open and “there are no stupid questions.” Elissa and Elizabeth, both artists themselves, are keen to help demystify art making while ensuring that participants gain an appreciation of the discipline and dedication that goes into the respective works.

If you'd like to sign up, tickets are $75 each (including a complimentary glass of Prosecco!) and can be purchased via this link. Reductions are available for artists and groups.
