Aside from being a fantastic brunch, shopping and Polish food destination, Greenpoint is also a great place to run an independent business. The local business community is well-known for being supportive of its commercial neighbors which is increasingly important in these testing economic times.
The Greenpoint Business Alliance (GBA) is a local non-profit dedicated to creating a vibrant shopping, cultural and dining destination in Greenpoint. As a purely volunteer-led entity, the GBA relies on its members and the local community to drive all of its initiatives. Unfortunately, the number of volunteers and the time they have to donate has diminished over recent months. In order to continue its work the GBA needs new volunteers and that's where you come in!
On Oct. 6 the GBA is inviting the community to come together and help frame the future of the GBA. The agenda is open to ensure anyone with ideas can present them. However, the two areas that the GBA would like to address are membership and the "Shop Local" program. If you are interested in learning more and potential offering your time, please attend on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at North Brooklyn Development Corporation, 148-150 Huron Street.
